Patrick Sewell heads up Sewell on the go, a 12-strong chain of fuel and convenience stores located around Hull and East Yorkshire. Serving 4 million customers a year, each store is run by local, customer-focused people who make sure customers and communities have everything they need to keep going, day or night. The retailer, as part of the wider Sewell Group, was named on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list in 2024. Patrick joined Sewell Group after leaving university, initially working within the company’s construction arm, before joining Sewell on the go in 1998 as a store manager (having worked in our first store as a teenager!). Patrick became managing director in 2004 and has grown the business to its current 12 stores. Patrick is passionate about the convenience store sector, and is a director of the Association of Convenience Stores (ACS), serving as chairman for 3 years from 2016. Patrick believes that Sewell on the go’s high standards, innovative ways of working, great service and focus on its people is what makes the company special. In his spare time, Patrick enjoys travelling the world (and doing some research on international convenience stores on the way!).
